Brian Kelly, football coach from Notre Dame base compensation was increased in 2013. On the other side, his overall compensation decreased because the new federal tax return of this university. Now, there is a document that shows us that Kelly had a base salary of under $1 million in 2013. This is an increase of $300.000 from the year 2012. His total compensation was decreased from $1.5 million to $1.2 million because in 2012 he received more than $600.000 bonus pay and in 2013 he received less than $10.000.
In that time, former coach, Charlie Weis received $2.1 million in 2013. This is more than any other athletic employee. According to the agreement, he will receive additional payments during this year, through December 2015. In 2009, Weis was fired (in November) and he received $6.6 million pay for that year. From 2010 to 2013 he was paid $8.4 million. During that same time, he was working for the University of Florida and Kansas City Chiefs. He became the lead coach at Kansas in December 2011. He received $2.5 million until he was fired in September 2014.
Jack Swarbrick, Notre Dame AD was credited with $1.3 million for the year 2013. This was $200.000 more than in 2012. His base salary was $800.000, $100.000 more than in 2013. He also received $200.000 in bonus pay.
Muffet McGraw, women’s basketball coach, received $1.3 million as the compensation from the school. She received an additional $300.000 from marketing rights that Notre Dame Athletics handles. Mike Brey, men’s basketball coach, received a bit lower than $1 million from this school. He also received $720.000 from the marketing firm and multimedia.
