When it come to having a busy off season, then the Chargers will highly be the first team in the National Football League that has had numerous things going on with them for instance, the football team has been forced to deal with the situation that is surrounding Phillip Smith, the team’s quarterback.
At the beginning of OTAs last week, Phillip Rivers was asked about his Chargers contract and his answer surprised many people.
When asked if there was something brewing up in terms of his contract, Smith said that, “there is actually nothing ne that I can be able to tell you.”As much as his response might come as a surprise too many, some analysts had seen it coming given the fact that The Chargers have been thinking about relocating for a long time now.
Given the fact that the contract between the Chargers and Rivers doesn’t necessarily have a true deadline even as he approaches the final year of his contract, the Chargers might end up signing him during the training camp or even during the regular season or even the post season or might end up letting him go all together.
The main reason as to why it has taken a long time to address Smith’s issue is the fact that Chargers need to first figure out their stadium deal. Once that has been figure out then the chargers might consider handling Phillip contractual issues with the club and see whether or not they will be giving him a new contract.
