Emil Hegle is also known as Emil Hegle Svendsen. He is a Norwegian biathlete who has won a number of gold and silver medals in his professional career. Competing as a junior, he won 4 gold medals in the Junior World Championships. In 2010, at the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada, he won 2 gold and 1 silver medals. In the World Championships, he has won 5 individual gold medals and 6 gold medals in relay. At present, he is only 30 years old, but he has the skills and stamina to continue competing.
Simon Ammann is a Swiss ski jumper. He was a total unknown when, at the age of 16, he competed in the 1997-1998 Ski Jumping World Cup and qualified for the 1998 Olympic Games in Nagano, Japan. Just prior to the 2001 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah, he crashed and was injured. However, he won gold in the individual Normal hill and the individual long hill events. In 2006, he competed in his third Olympic Games in Turin, Italy and in 2010, he competed in his fourth Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada and won gold for Switzerland. He is the first man in history to win gold medals in both the individual Normal hill in two Olympics. He is the most decorated Swiss Olympic athlete to have competed for Switzerland.
In January, 2015 while competing in the Four Hills Tournament, Simon was injured. It is not known, at this time, if he will retire or return to competitive skiing.
